Since the 1970s NIRAS has been involved in design of airports in Greenland. It began in Nuuk in 1975, when we designed the airport and monitored the construction. Then followed Ilulissat, Sisimiut, Maniitsoq, Uummannaq, Upernavik all designed for the DASH-7, still flying in Greenland.
There have been no changes to the airports since we designed them, but due to the future development in transportation, we have made conceptual design for extensions in Nuuk and Ilulissat.
We have also been working with pavement design at Kangerlussuaq and Narsarsuaq airport.
