PrintThe challenge of water power close to the edge of the inland ice
The planned Ilulissat water power station is located very close to the edge
of the Greenland inland ice, and the water in the proposed reservoir is close
to the freezing point. This will introduce a risk for freezing or supercooled
water in the headrace tunnel situated in permafrost.
NIRAS has studied this phenomenon in details, and NIRAS will take part in the
design group for the coming planning of the project.
